WVIRBA State Finals, Ireland WV

July 25, 2020

Every year, Irish Road Bowlers in WV step onto a stretch of black top to settle the never-ending debate, “Who’s the best bowler in WV?” How that question is answered this year will be a little different than in years past.  The WV Singles Championships for the Novice 2-4 and Women’s division have been rescheduled for July 25th and 26th in Ireland WV.  Since both Spring qualifying events were canceled, qualifying scores will be thrown on Saturday the 25th.   Drawings to determine start times will begin at 10am sharp Saturday morning.  Qualifying scores will be thrown shortly after the drawing.

The top scores in each of the 4 grades will advance to the championship matches on Sunday the 26th.  Beginners are welcome to compete as a Novice 4, and women can choose to compete in the Women’s or Novice 4 grades, but not both.  Assuming the Covid-19 pandemic doesn’t interfere with scheduling, the top two bowlers in each grade advance to the North American Championships.  There, team WV will compete against the best bowlers from the Boston and NY clubs.

Below is the schedule for the  State Qualifying and Championship matches during the weekend of July 25th and 26th

Celebrating 25yrs of competition, the West Virginia Irish Road Bowling Association would like to congratulate the 2020 Singles State Champions.  Matches were held on Wildcat Road in Ireland WV this past weekend, the same road where it all began years ago.  Travis McClintic, Wesley Parsons, and Blake Tasker each won their respective grades, and earned a chance to compete at the North American Regional Finals in October.  Three years after she won her first women’s title, Jamie Wilson returned to Wildcat Road and took top honors, remaining undefeated on that sacred stretch of blacktop.  Cheers to all who competed and let’s enjoy 25 more years of WV Irish Road Bowling!
